You must have now idea about the parts market at all.. With the internet and ebay local shops cant compete, and those who try are making little or no return on the part and getting their money on the labor side. As far as building engines that is also time consuming work. AAM is a rather small shop so if their work load is such that they cant take the time to do an engine build to the level that they want out on the street with their name on it oh well. Also of the literally hundreds of shops just in the 757 like AAM how many actually can build a reputable engine???? I bet that number is very very low. And of those hundreds of shops in the 757 plus all the shops in the rest of VA (now we are in the thousand) how many have a AWD DynoJet? I'm sure that number is less that ten in the state.... So what it is there is a shop out there for every enthusiast. Maybe you just haven't found the right one for you yet..

But BIG ups to the guys. Tidewater Sports Car Club had a meet at the shop today and had a blast. Kienan , Vern, and Brett were top notch as always. We had a lot of guys chomping at the bit to do it again. We will be back many many times!!!!

Hmm, I guess you have never taken a look in their back room which is a boxer engine bone yard, or know that they specialize in subarus. Their knowledge on flat four builds is very high to say the least. As far as not carrying parts, as was stated before, it takes a HUGE amount of capital to get involved with stocking parts, and shops that stock parts usually adopt a pusher mentality where they are more interested in getting product off the shelf than what is best for your car. About their price, I consider AAM one of the best shops I've visited. You're not just paying for a job well done with them, you're paying for the best customer service and loyalty in the area.

Ill skip the parts getting argument, because its been covered. As for over priced, call around. 99% of the time, you wont get a better price. You might now, since the thread being made, of course another shop might read this and then try and give you a better deal. Think about this, if a shop orders you a part, a motor, etc they have to mark it up to make money, just like any other business. Ever think he might have been trying to save you money by having you order it yourself? Why would someone want to make you spend more money than you have to? So you were trying to say something bad, just in a nice way. But hey, everyone can gripe when they don't get their way.

This is a complaint.

I was recently quoted $XX.xx for a dyno pull and a test pipe install. I showed up some random afternoon (with no appointment). He immediately installed it and made 3 pulls on the dyno. Oh and he had the nerve to charge me $15.00 less than the quoted.

What a rip off.
