I sold the snake a few months ago and got an '01 Corvette Z06 (see sig) The cobra ran a best of 13.42 with 3.73 gears, intake, and full exhaust. The vette is much much faster, I haven't had it to the track, but I figure it'll run low 12's on a good day.

The only reason I was ever behind was becuase I pulled up behind him at lights
(no irony involved). As for the '03 cobra, I test drove two of them and it's a sweet stang. I could have gotten one for just under sticker then plus taxes tags and crap it would have been $37,000. I was looking for a used Z06 and found a pristene '01 for $34,000. In a straight line the cobra with intake, pully, headers, exhaust would be a bit faster. They generally put down 450+ rwhp but they weigh 3700 pounds. My Z06 only weighs 3050 w/ 1/2 tank of gas. If I change out the exhuast it's possible to get under 3000. The mustang is hella fast, but it's still a muscle car... it's heavy and doesn't handle anything close to the vette. Also, the mustang chassis is crap and will flex a billion times more than a c5 corvette, even with Sub Frame connectors. I got to drive a vette at road atlanta last summer, and got hooked on road racing. I wanted something that is very fast, but can turn and brake with the best... the Z06 will do that. It's basically a facotry built road race car. So that's my piece, I didn't spend 52k for this car ( I'd have bought a used viper GTS) and I wanted somethign to road race!
vmspoinage... what's team 1337?

Does team top end have anything that......well has crazy top end? the real top end team's NSXs are all really nice. but from what i understand they are the only hondas with....well any top end...........and 150 isn't much to hype at. stock n/a FCs do 140 and turbos with close to 155. well anyway regardless i hope to have my true top end FC out within two years or so. Maybe team "top end" will still be around.
BTW one of my goals with this car is to take out a local c5 and Z06 so if i succeed maybe corba will still be around too?
haha
have fun guys

here's a road test of a Viper GTS ACR, Cobra R, and a Z06 worth checking out (video)
Anyway, you pretty much covered what I was going to say Cobra4B. Vettes weren't built for the drag strip, hell, it's the same motor in the Camaro SS. What you are paying for is the chassis, suspension, braking, and handling.
As far as Team 1337 it's really nothing right now (just myself and one other guy) but we are trying to get together a small group of people who own exotics in the Hampton Roads area and are interested in racing SCCA Solo I/II autox. If you're interested PM me and I'll let you know about any events as they come up.

You're right... same short-block and intake manifold. The ls6 has different heads with D-shaped exhaust ports, sodium filled valves (on the '02), and better springs and retainers. I'm not sure if the pistons are different, does an SS have the same compression ratio. The Z has 10.5:1. Oh yeah the Z has a completely different cam, the '02 and up has one with an even higher lift.
