Check your oil level. What are the engine codes that you have?

Doesnt the ecu ignore the upstream during open loop, therefor not causing any performance problem at wot? Now at part throttle thats another story....

in open loop, the ECU is running off of its base maps..with no correction for fuel control. when its in closed loop..thats when it does its thing, using the o2 sensor to constantly monitor the fuel mixture, and change it accordingly. and, most vehicles have to be over set parameters to go into closed loop...usually a time limit, and a set engine temperature has to be reached..usually 165ish...depends on the maker...
that is why any "stage 2" chip has to be used with a low temp thermostat......keeping the engine cold enough to run on the programmed maps, and not having the ECU compensate for it....kinda confusing, and prolly too much unneded info, but i figured i'd share it.

It would however make it run rich.
thats what limp mode is, open loop, somethings wrong, it dumps fuel..........

No, that is wrong. Open loop and limp mode are two very different things.

Exactly.

over set parameters? Im not sure what you mean by that. Open loop is used during WOT, indicated by I think tps voltage and load (maf sensor). It is also used during startup, when the oxygen sensor is too cold to give a good reading.

set parameters:meaning programmed specifics the engine has to be over for the vehicle to go into closed loop....wuch as, has to be over X temp, for X minutes...etc...varies with each manufacturer

Are you sure your oil is fine my old EX would quit working (VTEC) when the oil was old.....(Over 3000 miles...* we were harsh on her..lol)

Edit: buy a nissan this wont be a problem anymore.....

I would also say get on the rd. put it in 3rd and stay in 3rd jumping the throttle....It seemed to work on my boys GSR.....(His solenoid is going bad though)...just a thought.......
