my last set of tires had a 320 treadwear rating, and they've got 25k street miles on them so far.they're gradually worn less than 1/32" more on the inside edge, smoothly from the outside edge.i'd say they have 5k more miles left on them.i'm happy with that.
Chris
What tires are you using btw? Plus the 320 treadwear is helping you out. Had it been a lower, say less than 280 it would be a lot more.

Well i cant blame you, changing alignments just for a track day is a pain only to realign the day after.

they're Sumitomo.i forget what model.
obviously my wear would be much faster with a lower treadwear tire-that kinds of goes without saying.i've seen much faster wear on Azenis, but my point was more that you can run pretty extreme camber and it not affect the tire wear too much as far as uneven wear.
i see so many people wearing out hard street tires in 5k-10k miles, and they blame it on camber or assume that having a lowered car just eats tires regardless.

Remember toe kills tires not camber.

Im not starting another thread. But I need a shop that aligns lowered cars in the christiansburg area...possibly even roanoke. I had my car aligned at a place back home and as soon as the guy asked how to turn the car off (because of the turbo timer) I knew he was going to fuck something up. Sure enough its been about 2 months and the inside on the rear tires are almost gone and the car rides like shit. Anybody have a favorite or actually work at a shop?

I know South Main can do it, but it depends if there is a tech there anymore that will do them. I did cars with 2" of ground clearance on their rack easily. They have the DSP heads, so cross view is not a problem like an optical machine.

Thompson Tire has the new High Def DSP heads on their Hunter, as does Firestone. Whether or not they will try to get a car on and do a full alignment is another story.

When my new facility is finished, I will have absolutely no ground clearance issues (we recessed the lift into the floor, you drive straight onto it with no ramps.) But that is about three months out.
