well ive already been manual for a while. Just depowered the rack.
I love it, so much more feel on track. Got the manual rack for free, its a few lbs lighter, however the ratio is bigger 3.3 vs the power rack of 2.8...Jury is out if i will like it more or not, I could always swap it back.
Although i would imagine turning my 205s is a lot easier then whatever tires you run. But i'd be willing to bet its worth the effort.

Yeah that's the concern... but the Panoz is only 2700lbs and uses 275s so it's not exactly a GT500 w/ 315s up front.
I get very mixed feedback. Guys on www.ffcobra.com's racing section are all against it. They say the power steeting allows you to catch a slide more easily and you have overall less fatigue. However, the Panoz allready has manual brakes so I think manual steering would fine. Plus, in my head I'd imagine the feel is increased dramatically as I know my brakes feel much better than power.
Is your car easy to turn on track? Or are there sections like turn 4 at VIR where you have to muscle it some?

my car is really easy to drive, the only time i noticed anything. Was at the Shenandoah circuit, by the end of the weekend my left elbow hurt lol.
That's a really tight course though, and my first event without powersteering.
Try de-powering the rack, if you like it fine...if you don't just hook the lines back up.
I can see where they are coming from on catching a slide, as you probably can counter steer faster with power. But to be able to feel the steering get light/hard while corning makes it all more worth it. But again my car is 2100 lbs with 205's.

Well, I spent pretty much all day at All Aspects, but we got some stuff done.
Crank scrapper is installed, new oil pan was junk, so we stuck with my Honda Bond special. Turns out my right front strut was loose in the housing, fixed that, and also found out that my front cross-member bolts were loose and bottomed out. Some washers and drilling fixed that.
I had to order a new left rear caliper because mine wont stop sticking, so hopefully after Wednesday I should be ready.
Race cars are serious business.
