Depending on how long and where you plan on riding I would also keep on the lookout for a used DRZ400SM, but if you're stuck on those two choices then get the SV650. Also, if you could find one, I know of a few people that would recommend a bandit 600 (*cough*Skr00z*cough*).

I know it's not what you want, but please at least take a Honda bike for a ride. I'm a Yamaha guy (all my dirtbikes, etc) are Yamaha, but when I took my F4i for a spin, I was sold.
