And before you say "sure in STX, but what about stock classes"

Trophied (SP?) in 2003 for men and women in the stock class and for the men in 2002.

*catching up*

The stock suspension is relatively soft... you should see the WRX's autoxing in the stock classes with R-compounds It's easy enough to fix though, like it's been posted, sways are a good first step (I have Cuscos)

For the original poster - the Subie track snobs I know say not to get the Goodridge lines because they're not coated. Stoptech's lines are coated (not sure if they have any for the STi yet) and Cobb has some rebranded Stoptechs which naturally are also coated. If you do get the Goodridge, make sure you get the right ones, apparently if you buy from the wrong vendor you won't get the right ones for your car and have fitment problems.

I can say with some confidence that 99% of slow WRX autocrossers are due to 1 of 2 things: the crappy stock tires, or not knowing how to drive the car. Will a DS WRX be as quick as a BS S2000? No, but I'd hardly say the WRX "sucks".
