vtech head question
Port will help also depend on what block you put it in cause could have raised the c/r so that would help too. Hook up the Vtec. It's like 1 wire and 2 others. get a p28 so you dont' need a knock. later

WRONG
actually, he is partly correct in thinking that. thats how it works on the h series motors. If you don't have the vtec selonoid hooked up right, or a bad connection or any other reason vtec is malfunctioning then the h series motors go into "limp mode" and the fuel cut and redline is lowered to 6300-6500 rpms (can't remember) and essentially it becomes a non-vtec h22 and runs like a h23 dohc non-vtec.
but thats on a motor meant for vtec. when i did my minime swap my redline stayed the same from before i did the head swap, when i had the head on and vtec no wired, and even after i wired the vtec. in order to get the redline to increase youd need an ecu out of a 94-95 (i think) ex or si that had the increased redline, and youd have to adapt that ecu to control your motor. otherwise itll stay the same.
yeah, i forgot to post, the difference between what you were referring to and what happens with the mini me.. is that unless you have a different computer adapted to your car that already has vtec, then your car doesnt know any difference on rather or not the vtec activates, therefore it wouldnt realize something was wrong, therefore not sending it into limp mode.
i think i just confused myself trying to make that make sense.
