BMW 135i vs 335i
If it had slimmer headlights (ala E39 5 series) it would look WAY better.
that is actually from my old ass photobucket account. i have a white one in there somewhere.. lemme find it.
edit: wheels are meh but i still dig the hatch.

my original point still stands though... there's nothing out today that's going to be as fun and tossable as a 2002 or e30. If I was looking for something with a high power:weight ratio i'd build something old; if i wanted something practical for a family DD it'd be a 3 series. Aesthetics aside, the 1 series as they built it(hatch wasn't available here last time i checked) doesn't really have a place.
I don't need anything practical so i drive a super chick-car.

Too bad the hatch isn't sold here
I personally know people that would buy it and if I had the money I would too. All blacked out that car is a symphony of evil. There's just something about a RWD hatch that's kind of cool cause when you look at it it looks like it'd be heavy and not very good through the corners. Is the 50lbs. of ballast still over the rear bumper in the hatch?

The front of the white one shows the true "girliness" of the headlights though. I love the concept of a small, quick, RWD, hatch. It's the front end that hurts the look the most. Instead of being slim and "mean" looking, they look doe-eyed with Cleopatra pointy eye liner. It's a very feminine front end, despite the "M" style front bumper.
one of the biggest factors for me was aesthetics. when i bought my car(335i) back in 08'...i waited a few extra months for the release of the 1-series just to get a close-up view of the car at the dealer. once i saw just how squished it looked....especially on the inside...choosing the 3-series was a no-brainer.
