10% is not exaggeration. If anything it's giving extra credit to ECMlink. AEM has hundreds of tables, hundreds of variables that are configurable. ECMlink has at most 10% of these. But it's the bottom line stuff you need, that will cover 90% of people just fine.

I think the key difference between AEM and ECMLink would be the ability to actually "fine tune" the car. But then again, a majority of the people on this site could care less if their car is making power and running like the car actually should.

But saying that DSMLink does 10% of the AEM EMS sounds like you could only make about 10% of the power. So if the EMS record is 1000hp, 10% of that is 100hp. Do you NEED 100s of tables to run your DSM, no? Do you need 100s of tables to run 10s.... I hope not since that's my goal. Besides the backbone of DSMLink has 100s of variables it's just not user definable. It's pre-defined or determined based on other variables.

DSM's can be VERY reliable if you aren't a cheap ass and do things right the first time.

DSMlink is an awesome tuning tool, and is very user friendly. Let the stock ecu manage idle / daily driveability and when WOT you have full control. AEM requires much more finesse and experience / knowledge of what your doing. I could idle 1150cc injectors like stock and the car trapped 105mph in the 1/8th on pump gas so it's definitely not going to hold you back. I'll be dipping into the AEM software soon so I'll be able to comment more on that hopefully soon.

DSMer's are more prone to being cheap ass's, myself included at one time. Lesson learned.

Dude, whats your deal? Put you dong measuring stick away.

No. If you are running an EMS that cost you $1100 and breaking 10s and I am running a VPC that cost me $300 and breaking 8s; then by simple definition it's better than an EMS. And it was in 2001 (10 years ago).

AEM is far more capable then v3 I would agree it does almost 90% more then link. Laserspeedemon, you're taking what Dave said the wrong way. He isnt saying that link can only make only 10% of the power you can on aem he's saying that you can make the same power plus more with more tables and areas to tune. Yes ecmlink is what 85% of dsm'ers need and should get because it user friendliness. But for someone whose tuned hundreds or even thousands of cars aem would be of more use where you can get to the nitty gritty. You can make 500 hp on v3 and aem but aem lets you really get in there when it comes to tuning (if you know how).
