I personally think it is because most people are afraid that with the same investment in a Neon as in any other 4 cylinder car, the Neon will most likely out perform the other car. The Neon is cheaper. Originally the Neon was designed to be a "throw away" car for old people and college chicks. Most of your typical Neon haters are dare I say it, Civic owners. Combine this with the fact that everything original has already been done to a Civic, and there you go.
Granted I do know and understand that 90% of all Neons on the road are riced out by punk teen kids whose parents bought them a cheap car to drive to and from high school. It pains me to see these things.
So, these are my opinions, and my .02 cents. If you don't like it, so be it.
