Thanks for the info.
whats your method on buffing? What do you use to buff it, i used some microfiber towels when i waxed my car, and they seemed to leave some minor scratches behind....not very happy with that
Well microfiber is supposed to be the best and not create any swirls. I'll wash a car w/ Dawn, clay bar it, then apply the polish or wax, let haze, wipe off w/ a 100% terry towel then buff it with my orbital using a foam bad. It'll make it look like you're running a hose on it.
The trick to a good shine is paint prep. You need to clean and clay the car for the best results. Even "junk" wax will look great if the car is properly prepped. If you have swirls or scratches use some mild rubbing compound or swirl mark remover before you polish/wax.

someone explain to me how the hell to use the clay bar, I tried and it seemed completely useless with however I made use of the directions. I think that shit they pack it with, the quick spray or whatever wouldnt keep the paint wet enough while I was doing it and it didnt pickup much.
Put your hand in a plastic bag and rub it on your paint if it gets held up and you feel stuff then you need clay. It won't always get dirty but after you use the paint will be super slick.
I don't use the stuff that comes wtih the Mothers kit. I'll use clay magic... it's blue and comes in a tub. I use a spray bottle with soapy water to lube the surface. Generally I'll wash my car but not dry it. Then I'll clay it using the soapy water in the spray bottle to further lube the surface. Then you "shuttle" the bar over the surface of the cars only in straight lines, not circles! Go front to back on the top surfaces of the car and up and down on the vertical surfaces. Keeping the surface well lubed is key.

so you should use almost no force when using the claybar? just rub it along the paint as lightly as possible?
also, what do you do when you finish a side of your car, do you roll the bar up into a ball and then squish it back into a rectangle?

Yes you don't have to push hard w/ the clay... I just keep and eye on the clay stretching it out and folding it over frequently.
Yeah after you remove the wax you buff it to make it shiney.... that's why it says "Wipe off, turning to a clean side for the final pass" A foam pad is the least abrasive and is designed for polishing/buffing. It really brings out the shine.
