Where do you get your money for the car lifestyle?
I work 7 days a week, with one weekend off a month(just started getting that lately)
I have done this for 6 years and I am 25 years old. I have a house, a 99 gt/saleen clone, 97 cobra(vortech charged), my 94 twin turbo supra and my daily beater for good gas mileage. I regularly attend classes at college and have like 80+ credits but I am a LONG way from a 2 year degree since most of my credits are spread apart. I am a mechanic where I work. I started off running machines, worked my ass off and got promoted to mechanic.
Also, on the side, I buy used mustangs(usually fixed up in one way or the other) either they are built and ugly, or stock and beautiful. The built ugly ones get painted and any maint they need, the stock beautiful ones get modded using quality used aftermarket parts.
I am married and have no kids also.
I have lost out on a LOT of stuff working so much, but I have a lot of material stuff. Some say material stuff is just that, stuff, but to me it makes me proud. When I left home(at age 18) I left with about 6 sets of cloths and a 77 RX7. I was not poor as a child, but a LONG way from rich. I lived with my grand parents since my dad had passed away and my mom was unfit or some shit. Any toys or anything like that(bikes, etc..) was purchased by me, not given to me. I had one aunt that gave me things(as much as she could) but that was the extent of it.
If you want the key to having wealth, WORK. Not being a smartass by any means, but work your ass off. Any job you can get. Thats what I have been doing and will continue to do until I reach 45 where I plan to retire. I am also planning out an Ultima GTR project sometime when I get on first shift.
So, lets reveiw. Work 7 days a week, 8 hours a day atleast. Dont buy things that arent needed. Buy parts used. Find something you are good at, and make money with it(painting, yardwork, tutoring, etc..). Pack your lunch. Buy a beater.
I also have a wife who makes a good living, and she keeps the house clean, yard cut, etc... so that helps a LOT. I spend 99% of my time on the road in my 93 festiva.
Cool to see there are so many other hard working people here!

My "real job."
In college when I lived at home, it was a looong delay between mods b/c I didnt make anything.
Like someone already said, its all a matter of priorities.
Personally, I wouldnt let my lifestyle suffer due to my car.
Its just a hobby for me, it doesnt run my life.
Im not going to eat ramen and stay home on the weekends so I can buy an exhaust system. But some people will, b/c thats their preference.
