Went there with a couple friends, I'm picky about where I eat most of the time. I just wasn't that impressed, and for the price I need to be...
Fusion 440 is actually reasonable. 4 of us ate at Mesa Grille + dessert, autographed cookbook, shirt + tip. The bill was $300.
Fusion 440 owners are Johnson & Wales grads & the service is straight from J&W cirriculum. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. You might want to try the Blue Hippo downtown Norfolk. Reasonably priced entrees (most under $20 iirc) and if they're still open for lunch, most everything is under $10. Best known for their wine selection (2+ pages) and top shelf cocktails.
Bobby Huber (of the former Bobbywood in Norfolk Ward's corner) is now the executive chef at 1 fish 2 fish & he carried most of his ideas with him. A friend of mine from school works there also. The same owners also opened the Red Mullet (Hilltop). Cobalt Grille is another good choice too (Hilltop).
