Where do you see the import scene going?
what about the weight of cars. the greatest thing about the civic hatchback was how light it was. i don't seen any company designing light weight vehicles. i read something in SCC a while ago that went along the lines of "making a car heavy is to help it be safe in an accident, but making a car lightweight is to help it avoid the accident in the first place."
.02...Car makers are about money. If performance oriented cars were more profitable then they would be more apt to make them. Unfortunately I don't see that happening. I think the average import car will remain just that...average. Sure STI's, EVOs, 350z will all come out. But we all know what happens. They come here the price inflates then the sales numbers drop and its back to square one. The average import inthusiasts does not run out and spend $30,000+ dollars on an import. Therefore, import manufactures don't bring them over. Economy cars with some pep sell. Japanese automakes will cater to their pockets. Import enthusiasts do not drive import auto sales. Here is something to ponder...How many of you bought BRAND NEW performance oriented imports? Now how many of you bought USED import and then decided to modify them? I'm sure more of you chose the later. The later does not help sell import performance sales. Thats NOT to say I wouldn't like to see more perfomance oriented imports. I just feel it is wishful thinking.

i would like to see more drift events, especially in the east coast, but if drifting becomes mainstream you should all fear for your lives.
i already know one kid who attempted to drift in a ford escort...but then again i live in Lynchburg, home of the 14 second escort and speed racer himself.

The scene- I think the companies that aren't around now are seeing whats going on and will really step it up. Honestly i think the turbo is here to stay for a while. Surprisingly i think the american companies such as chevy, ford etc.. are catching on and will really come out with more shit then they have now. (ie. the srt-4) The 4 banger is looking good on the outlook and the monster engines are thriving and have been around for years. It will get interesting trust me.

where as imports (well, at least honda) make a good quality car that's gonna last a while, but they sell it new for a little bit more, but it will be on the road a good while longer.

my parents had nothing but domestics growing up. all i can remember is problems w/ them. and i dunno what it is w/ the smell of fords in the interior. i think it's something in the oil of the vinyl. my mom's van had it and my girlfriend's car has it. it makes me feel car sick, and i'm not a motion sick person. i dunno. but anyways, back on topic.....
true to keeping your car up to par, a guy i know (and some of you probably do) josh meekins had a early nighties mustage 5.0. if you didn't know better, you would think it just rolled off the lot. it was in perfect condition and actually loved that car. i never got a chance to see what it could do, but i'm sure it was fast. i guess i'd have more respect for the domestics if ppl would keep them in good condition.

the car scene is at a good point right now, its all about having a clean, simple... FAST car. body kits and wild paint jobs are becoming a thing of the past, or "rice" as we like to call it. i like where were at right now. clean, Fast cars is where its at. who the fuck cares if its Mazda, nissan, toyota, vw, ford, chevy... well if u get a honda atleast its going to last
JK, its about having an overall good package right now.
