crank pulley tips
i had to buy a full titanium 1000 ft/lb impact wrench, increase my compressor psi, and shorten the hose to get mine off... it took all 1000ft/lbs too... good luck
yeah I'm gonna have to get a bigger gun or something, i tried turning over the engine last night with a breaker bar on the crank, no dice. I tried engaging the transmission and having a friend stand on the brakes. I gave it so much pressure the clutch slipped a little. ... so it's time for something out of control.
Put that bitch up on a lift, and get a ratchet and hit the living crap out of it. LOL.....Mine fell off while I was driving...kinda funny but kind of scary at the sametime. Anyone know if the crankshaft pulleys are all the same for B series?
I had to deal with this the other day. Tried 2 impacts the old stepping on the brakes method. Then finally got ahold of one of those crank pulley tools, ended up having to lower one side of the motor down to get it on, and then used a long ass breaker bar in conjuntion with that tool holding the crank pulley still to get it off.
try this, get the gun. select it to tighten the bolt, give it a few rounds tightening, then set it to take the bolt out........this method usually works for me, just try it.....tighten then loosen..........
I broke a craftsman 1/2" extension on one of those crank bolts. Had about 10' of steel pipe as leverage. I had to take it to merchants and they ended up using a 1" impact gun to break the bolt loose. I had them tighten it back with a 1/2 inch air gun just so I could remove it again when I got back home.
OK guys I'm kind of curious how this "starter torque" method is going to break the bolt loose considering the motor spins the wrong direction to loosen the bolt... someone help me out here
d and b series spin counter clockwise, k series spin clockwise correct...
you're right spinning the actual crank pulley counter-clockwise as you would by turning the starter would actually tighten the bolt.
