some guy on RX8forum took the pic of the RX8 and chopped it into a 2 door hatchback, can't you say SAWWWWEEEEEEETTT!!
if the 4th gen RX-7 gonna look anything like this i'm gonna cream my pants

HP sells cars Torque wins races. Even if the new Renesis can put out 250 HP the Tq of the FD would easily out distance the RX-8 in tight corner situations. Not to mention what they do in the skid pad (RX-8 .91g, RX-7?), and braking. I find it extremely hard to believe that give all else being equal the RX-8 could even see a FD's taillights once the flag went down. -Ian
RX-7 will run away from RX-8 in straightaways, but RX-8 can carry faster speed through turns and catch up because its body chassis is MUCH stiffer than the RX-7, and lower center of gravity (the Renesis sits lower and farther back than the 13B-REW)
Remember the FD IS a 10-year old chassis design... 10 years is a LONG time for carmakers to design better chassis and develop stronger, lighter materials...

oh and another thing, The RX-8 is NOT a direct replacement of the RX-7!!!!!! It's more of a touring 4-seat Coupe than an all-out sports car like the 7 is. And when you compare RX-8 to the available 2+2 coupes out there (G35 Coupe, 3 series Coupe), for the price (~33k fully loaded) it is an incredible deal.
The next RX-7 is already under development, shooting for a 2006-2007 release, IF RX-8 sells well...

The 1962 AC Cobra can walk away from almost any other car designed this decade with equivalent HP and Tq engine. The 10 year old FD platform was revolutionary for its time and is still capable enough to outperform a heavier, slower car through a road course. I understand that the RX-8 is not a replacement for the FD, considering I owned an FD for quite some time and no 4 door could ever touch the performance of the 3rd Gen RX-7 (without vast more power that is, ex. M5). -Ian

Hey guys just making sure we keep this thread as factually based as possible. So if you guys can provide some sites where this stuff is coming from i would appreciate it greatly.
Good lord that car looks sweet.
I am getting my 3rd gen rebuilt and spiffed up in order to sell within the next couple years. Maybe I will have enough from that to put a nice fat down payment on a new RX-7. but then again by that time I will probably need to buy a ...du du duuuuu FAMILY car.
