Honda Ruckus / Scooter Thread
went on my first ruck group ride last night. only cost me $99.
4 scoots rode in from the next town (40 min ride) to meet up with me. We rode @10 miles in town before it got dark then put on about another 40miles on a twisty road in pitch blackness. glad my ruck has brighter lights than my SV!
Things i learned:
my shet is slo as fakk and needs some tuning
drafting seriously works
my lights are so bright im getting flashed by oncoming cars
at least im going faster than i thought (running a rear tire up front also)
its damm cold riding at 2300
dont keep your expensive phone in your thigh pocket and expect it to be there at the end of a ride

then i saw 4 rucks in the lot, got too excited and forgot all about the phone -.-

In reference to all the RPM talk and Heath hitting his "limiter"-
Sounds like valve float to me. Stock springs/valves/retainers can (and will) rotate/vibrate at higher RPM's. Causes loss of compression and makes the engine "fall on it's face" so to speak. It'll also wear out the valve seats and cause valve fatigue.
The CDI not advancing timing enough to keep up with a high RPM could be the culprit, but I would imagine the drive train would show it's true colors long before that (valve float). I would think a company wouldn't sell a CDI with a limiter and not at least map the ignition to compensate.
EDIT: Found a video!

SN: Sorry to be such a smarty pants. I'm out of beer and tend to use my head when I'm not drunk.

Valve float on a ruckus sounds like loose change in your pocket, you really don't hear much through the exhaust but you do feel a slight loss in power. Me and JT both know it and have experienced it.
Yeah, it's not that... I'm getting the machine gun sound from the rev limiter.
