no dude, im telling you, check the WSB rules crank can be polished but not changed, pistons and connecting rods, can be changed.
head work, iirc has to be original piece, but can be can be altered.
bore and stroke can not be changed.
frame has to be original, forks and shocks are all out, although electronics suspension were outlawed this year.
flywheels and charging systems can be changed/altered.
swingarms i cannot remember right now.
brakes, can be whatever but carbon type rotors are not allowed, must be steel or SS.

again, the part of the WSB packages that determines the rest is the electronics.

1. the electronics are custom built, that is unobtanium right there, or well here let me be specific they come from a high end manufacturer, starts with an M I think, but anyways they are 100 percent modifiable and programmable. There electronics you can own, but never have see?

Head work: you said altered, and altered it may be in ways you will not know. Race teams like to keep things secret even if it is legal, and I know you race. So I know I don't really have to argue this point with you.

While you are correct in saying you can build one of the bikes yourself, and get teh same parts the point is it will never really be the same bike. It lacks the personal touches of a WSBK mechanic who is not concerned with holding back. I have worked on bicycles for many years, specifically road and down hill, and the same pile of parts coming from one guy, will ride completely different from the same parts coming from another and its all about how it is put together and tweaked during assembly and tuning.

i am not disagreeing with you bro.. and i said the electronics were the deciding factor 2 posts ago. in AMA most of the teams are using the bazazz package that you and i can buy, the trick is in the tuning like you said.
when i say alter for the head, i mean like port and polish and altering the port angle, cam shafts can be changed to custom ones.
the ohlins suspenson you and i can buy...

the marnelli electronics and that tenkate, yamaha and ducati use is the only thing different, you are totally right. but beans for beans you and iu could build a WSB. we might have to use bazzazz or YEC, or HRC or whatever electronics together but its doable.
its what seprated the factory boys from the satelite teams. but theyre no less WSB machinery than the rest

and yes, each bike is different, for example, people think Haga's bike is twitchy, ever notice his forks stick out the top of his yokes more than fabrizio's... it was the same with the R1 last year.

the point i am making is that it can be done. its not impossible like a GP bike is...

Also, every now and then, after the season you will see a WSBK machine on ebay uk, or ebay italy, etc... tenkate bikes pop up a lot on there, as they sell them publicly after i think 2 years.

I just don't think it is doable with out a highly skilled race mechanic. And that is pretty much the only point where our opinions really differ me thinks.

im not talking so much about the M1 more the R1.
it must be noted that the WSB R1 actually has more electonics than the M1.

for example, once Spies takes off, he doesnt use the clutch. he just shifts up or down, no clutch, no blipping. the M1, rossi has to use the clutch. not sure about the blippin tho

Dorna is looking to ban GPS based traction control next year, FIM hasnt mentioned such a move in WSB yet. Bazzazz has a GPS based TC setup that you and i can buy directly. no fancy one off stuff.

get off Ben's cack dude. dude is nasty and wicked on a bike and will surely bring it to motoGP... but make no mistake, no one, not even Rossi can do it without the "package"

Rossi need JB, and Spies need Houseworth... or whatever his name is
