I forgot to mention I can only use certain LT1's the ones from 92-96 vette and 93-97 Fbody. Ive been doing some homework and I'm told the 92-93 vette motor is the one I want.

For the most part. Vette blocks are 4 bolt main, F body blocks are 2 bolt main. Everything else (besides the stock exhaust manifolds) are the same. An LT1 is an LT1 is an LT1. 96 is the best year stock v8 in a vette for the Gen II smallblocks, it was an LT4 if the vette was 6 speed, which is a different cam, different heads, and a different intake. Made about the same power as a stock LS1.
Ok i did a lil reading on the LT4. Its like a $2k kit from Summit if I wanna do it aftermarket.
Why do you say 96 is hte best. I dont want a MAF and wont i still have to deal with optispark?

You'll have to deal with opti with every LT1, thats its birthmark if you will. IF you dont want a MAF, you want a 92-93 LT1 motor. If you're not going to keep the car stock, no point in spending the cash on a LT4 top end only to gain 50-60whp. You can spend the money on some ported stuff and gain 120whp instead.
In conclusion, go with a 92-93 LT1. They're MAF-less, but they still have the optispark system (all LT1/4's have optispark). Dont spend 2k on a LT4 top end from summit when you can spend $1500 on a set of ported stock heads and a custom cam, and make twice the power of an LT4 topend.

or you can buy mine already set up, tuned and ready to drop in with all new gaskets and under 10,000 miles on the top end for a similar price...
but what exactly is wrong with a maf? why is everyone suggesting he go maf-less? from the research ive done on the topic, id much rather have a stock MAF setup than a speed density setup. much easier to tune from and always compensating for variables in the weather and tons of other factors.
