If you're upside down on the loan it'll carry over to the cost of your new car and you'll be instantly even more upside down. If you do this please make sure you get gap isurance. You buy x car for $25,000 and roll over in $5000 of leaftover and you're making payments on $30,000. Then you drive that $25k car off of the lot and it's now worth $23k so you're even more in the hole. I used to see it often... get the gap insurance.
Since you're in the military they'll finance you for anything, but you can get over your head quickly.
If you want to deal w/ dealerships then don't look for a used sportscar especially a C5 Corvette... most of the ones dumped at dealers are a bit ragged on and it won't have a warranty depending on it's age.
The best way to do things would be to sell the car outright becuase you'll get more money, and shop for the car you want from a private seller enthusiast. You could buy a $500 beater car to limp around in then sell it for what you paid because it's allready a fully depreciated asset.
