I don't think 10k will get you a WRX. Atleast...not the current generation of them.

more specifically you could get an ls1 for 10k and probably be able to keep up or beat your bf's wrx.

plus it has tons of potential, and decent gas mileage.

 

I just did an autotrader search for Imprezas within 75 miles. 1999 and up and none were even close to 12k. The only Imprezas around 12k were the 2.5RS. I'm not trying to be an ass, but you may be looking out of your league with something like that. You could easily get a 96-98 Integra for around 6k and a GSR would be very possible. Your best bet for your budget and your age is definately a Honda. Also with your pay, its gonna be better for you to get something very reliable. I've worked jobs where I only made that much, and hell I don't make much more than that now. Its hard on your wallet when you have to fix things. Be smart with your "first" car. Don't get into something you can't afford.

 

Don't get a 3000GT/Stealth. They are mechanical nightmares, most of them are beaten the shit out of. If you are mechanically inclined, get a VR4. 13s right out of the box. BPU= 12s. Be prepare to get LOTs of headaches, spend a lot of money, and reasearch. Pro is that the car is very easy as far as running good times goes, upgrade the turbos and you're in the 11s in 100% street trim. The cars are very expensive aftermarket and repairs/maintanence, but well worth it considering you have a good looking, quick street car with tons of luxury options. Downside is that they are boats, the steering wheel is ugly and heavy, and body roll is horrible in my NA (that weighs 400lbs less than a VR4). Although they feel very stable in high speeds because of their weight.

And don't EVER think about getting a non turbo unless you want most of the headaches of the twin turbo model, and none of the performance. They are slow, handle like shit, and look like shit unless they've been taken care of very well.

PS. Why is their weight considered a downside anyway...? You really don't think about gutting your interior when you have a 3.0 liter Twin Turbo that can make well over 300WHP on stock turbos.
