sooo

im gonna need a new posi unit.........any suggestions on a good one that will hold to some big power?

and i need a new set of ring and pinion: more than likely going with 4.10s or 3.73s

let me know some suggestions

anyone with a m6 fbody with 3.73s or 4.10s wanna let me get a feel for 'em
Why waste the $$$ on fixing a stock 10 bolt..... most Posi's are anywhere from $450-650.. then a new ring and pinion $175 install kit $80 and someone to do it...... Your already almost 1/2 way to a 9"..........
been there wasted the $$$ and broke it two more times.........
I went 12 bolt at 1s,t but with a spool so there's no breaking that really....
But then i was out of gear in the 1/4 and opted for a Strange S60......

If you are going with a 9" the gears are either 3.70, not 3.73's and 4.11's as stated before...... You could go midway on thos two...... they do make a 3.90 gear for the 9"........

well thats my .02......

yea i know what you mean... im all about doing it once and doing it right. only problem is i dont plan on making any serious power for a while since im going off to college soon so hopefully the 10 bolt will hold out a bit longer.

i know fixing the stock rearend is always temporary if you plan on making big power and big traction (which i do later down the road) but buying a new posi and 4.10s is just more practical for now.

plus, the new gears/posi arent gonna cost me a thing.
made a bet with my dad that if running a spare for a day broke my drivetrain, hes gotta pay.

There a few used rears for sale on various fbody boards if your looking to save a few bucks....just a suggestion.

Ive got a 99 Z28 M6 with 4.10s and love it. Compared to my buddy's M6 SS its a lot more fun to drive because you can stay in 6th on the highway and still get pushed back in the seat. still under 2000rpm around 70 and get 22mpg with a cam.

i made a decision today on what to do.

i was pushed for time and since it wasnt my money i didnt have a big say so, or else i would have opted to do it once and do it right and get a new rearend.

i ended up going with an eaton posi, all new bearings, and richmond 4.10s

this is gonna be on an SS with ~315whp so it should be fun
