gettin there
here's the motor going in the chop. i just ground all the yamaha emblems off it. still needs smoothing out, and now it's dirty as hell, but you get the idea. kind of looks like a unit triumph motor now, lol. (20 points to anyone that knows what the difference btween a unit and pre-unit triumph motor is) the motor cases, cylinders, and head are painted with a wrinkle black, but it looks like crap in this pic since it has aluminum dust all over it.

I have seen people make choppers/bobbers out of those old flat track racing dirtbikes.
haha, it's an XS650 yamaha. in stock form, they're just your typical late 70's/ early 80's jap standard motorcycle. but yeah, yamaha did some dirttrack racing back in the day with them, and people still build alot of street legal dirt track bikes from them too. that's actually what o this bike was supposed to be at first before i went all cafe on it.

updated pics tonight after i get home from work. ups found my front rim and stuff, will be here today. i'll get it up on it's wheels and post some pics.
I have an idea...work just put me on 8 days a week...yeah, that's what the boss said. Doesn't help I threw out my back a week ago...can't even put the patch on my tire so I can put the new(er) shoes on the fighter to get it inspected. And I have an EX-500 that has been in my garage for 4 months that still isn't running...just haven't had the time to look at it. Been 3 months since I rode mine....
yeah, I have an idea what it's like to live a busy and hectic life!!!
Just givin' ya hell!

horrible pics, but it's the best i can do from the small space in my living room
everything is still just primed till i get it in one piece and make sure everything fits, then it'll get torn down and painted.
tires will be mounted and balanced wednesday, so i can at least roll the damn thing around.
bobby (the guy from whatupyo's thread he was talking about) is gonna hook me up with a welder to finish the tank and seat mounts tomorrow in return for my fixing his charging system problem. then it's mainly just alot of details to work out... like the brakes and stuff, lol.

i think the seat is a little wide for the bike, i may change that, and the pipes won't sit at that angle. the frame is flat on the ground so they won't go all the way on until i get tires on it.
for some reason these pics make the bike look alot longer than it really is too. i'll have to get some better pics once it has tires on it and i can move it around.
