MVaughn...well we all have our opinions. Imma just keep mine to myself...but is that your car in the photo? But if were being laughed at then why is it i get asked by people every day on how to join??? We consider ourselves as a family not a "team". You and your buddies should come out also, so we could have a few laughs of our own.
You'd be laughing at his ride? LOL! That, I would like to see... Both of his nice cars are rare turbo domestics... Not really sure what you'd be laughing at.

That's what I was thinking... What does a cop care if you're street tuning? That's not really a good excuse. Sucks to get ticketed for it, but there's not really a good way to get out of it.

Trust me, if you're dead honest with them, and explain how you were being cautious and not doing it when any other cars were around they can be lenient.

I've never had a speeding ticket, but i've gotten pulled multiple times for speeds WELL over the limit...if you have a legitimate reason, or are nice, or explain you were at complete fault but not dangering any others, they'll sometimes let you go. Thats why I asked if she told the cop what exactly that were doing...

I just find it funny you guys seem to think it wouldn't work at all; have you ever tried to get out of anything in your life? Tell the cop what you think he wants to know...which 99% of the time is giving him the honest answer.

I've gotten out of MANY tickets in my years of driving, but once you start getting a few that DON'T give you warnings and you have them on your record, the leniency doesn't exist anymore. Your record does the talking most of the time. Telling the officer you have to go to the bathroom, or batting your eyelashes doesn't work Michah... I know a lot of the city officers personally, and have even ridden with a few of them, and I know enough to tell you that whatever it is that you're telling them isn't what's getting you out of a ticket. Being polite, honest, and courteous, and your driving record... those are the two biggest things that are going to determine whether they let you off with a warning or not.

There is no legitimate reason to be doing a 3rd gear pull on 220 for a "street tune." I'm not saying it's a big deal to me, because it's not, but in the eyes of a police officer.. what could you possibly say to make it seem acceptable? Yes, you can admit fault and explain that there were no other cars on the road, but chances are slim that it's going to make a difference. They'll tell you to sit tight, and go check out your record. If you have a clean record, they will probably come back and hand you your license back telling you to slow down and advising you that they're giving you a break. If you have multiple speeding tickets, you'll hear "This is not an admission to guilt.. I need you to sign this acknowledging..." and you'll be signing the ticket on his/her clipboard.

I absolutely agree, your record has a lot to do with it. But add that to being polite and having semi-legitimate reasons for your speed and they'll be much more understanding.

Neither of us know Sherie's driving record, so its hard to say in this situation. Who knows! But most the time being straight forward with the officer is the best thing you can do.

But are you saying that "I'm trying to tune my car for the street" or anything similar to that would be an acceptable excuse to an officer? You mentioned having a semi-legitimate reason, and I don't think they'd look at that as being legitimate at all. To me, that's as good of a reason as saying "I just wanted to see what it topped out at. There were no other cars on the road officer!"

Again, not giving her shit. I've done worse... I'm just saying I don't think there's a good excuse for it for the laws point of view.

Officer: "Why were you speeding son?"
Dude" "I was tuning my car."
Officer: "Uh, why?"
Dude: "Big race tonight. Gotta get my tuning right so the motor won't blow. I running like 86 pounds of boost you know."
Officer: "Right. Well, as long as you weren't endangering lives, you're good. Good day."

SHIIIITTTT.

I had a friend on here get pulled, not tuning, but seriously working on his car (James93Tsi on here) and they didn't let him off for it.

I respect officers and what they do, but they aren't letting too many people off for shit like that. Hell, the officer that gave me my tint ticket wouldn't even let me off when I said I would go fix it ASAP. I even told him it was on there when I bought it from Maryland. "Well, you're not in Kansas anymore." Really...

WOW.. sorry about the misunderstanding about our car club "Empire", as far as us being called a "Team", you guys were right we are not, we more of a family then a team and not a bunch of street racing fake ass thugs , thats not what im trying to promote for us, any race's will be done on the tracks as much as possible.
We join Heiss M3 on the cruise last sunday and as far as i know, everyone was cool with eachother and didnt act up and disrespected anyone. We trying to make a good name for ourself, there's alot of clubs out there and alot are not respected much.
We have alot of good platform's in our club " Evo's,SRT-4's,WRX's,STI's, Svt Cobra's, Z06, BMW's, GST's, TSI'S, 350Z's, Camaro's and S2000" which none are ricey.
We are trying to do something, and do it right.
People know me on here and they know the kind of person that i'am,alot of ya know some of the members in Empire and know how they are.
We have a car show coming up soon, and having a respect name means alot, the more they know about you,the more people will show up. We have march showdown, nopi and HIN's coming up also.
The person that made the thread was right," alot of nice and clean cars in Empire" But most importantly alot a good people.
If anyone would like some more info ya can contact me and i could explain things better in person.
once again sorry for the misunderstanding.
.Thanks

While I don't think you NEED any defending.... I'll say that the cruise with you guys was a success. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I saw your group roll up when it was just Heiss M3, myself, and just a few others in the parking lot. I was afraid that your "team" would draw too much attention by just being stupid in the parking lot and on the cruise because thats what usually happens at "team" gatherings. To my surprise, there were absolutely no issues or conflicts. To my knowledge, nobody did anything stupid on the roads and every time we stopped everyone was chill and just hung out. The only problems we had were Gavin's blown turbo and my friend's Cobalt SS's temporary loss of power (that's why we got off at the first rocky mt exit off the parkway!). That just turned out to be a bad sensor that caused the car to shut down!? Warrantied and fixed now though.

I think people "respect" groups or teams for different reasons. A lot of people are asking what kind of cars are on your team.... so having nice cars will gain their respect? Having nice cars is a plus, but to me just having a group of enthusiasts that you can hang out with without any conflicts or BS deserves more respect, which is hard to come by in the tuner community. And if you want to slap a team name sticker on your car, or just call your group something, I don't see why people are on your balls about this?! Good luck on your car show!
