Tim, do you have any recommendations for good local shops to align my sights?
I had a friend take a look at it a bit back as the pistol was firing about a foot low and to the left at 15 yards. Had a weapons specialist with the military take a look at it. He was able to play with the sights a bit, but wasn't able to get it perfect. He said (and maybe you can correct him) that the XD requires some sort of special tool for aligning it that he didn't have access to.
I have heard that, too, but I haven't actually talked to a smith about it.
I would take it to Bob's gun shop. They should be able to do it.
If you bring it to me, I'll use my special alignment tool for the XD series - a sledgehammer. Then you'll have to buy a gun that's worth a shit.
I just purchased Rugers SR9 17+1 9mm. Its a very nice gun. Very Slim and accurate. I am also looking into purchasing the XD40 3" for concealed carry. I have held one with the grip extension and fits just perfect.
You know why they make such high capacity guns in 9mm?
Because you'll need that many.
Bah, todays +P 9mm rounds will do the same damage as a 40 S&W. Not so much on the .45 though.
To me, 40S&W is the best choice for carry. If it is a 1911 though, it WILL be a .45. 9mm has its place for carry though. Smaller guns, with a higher capacity.
Now we all need to write in and support the bill to allow us to conceal into restaurants and other facilities with consumption of alcohol on premise.
