you cant just slap a vtec head on and go.you should put different pistons in if you go the vtec route. the valve reliefs on the ls pistons aren't big enough.
What was the piston to valve clearance that you measured to come to this conclusion?
Your gonna hear a few hundred opinions, most will probably work...try to listen to people who have done it, Not the people telling you about their friend who's brother once read on the internet about a guys neighbor who saw a dude run 12's....
An ls-vtec should hit high 13's with a stripped interior and sticky tires. Nothing else is needed.
Im going to be putting a stock b18a1 in a stripped ef soon and im hoping for high 14's.
i have a stock b1 in my eg hatch...full interior i ran a 14.4
so the engine i thought i bought was a b18b engine but i just found out its a b18a1. their both obd1 right? so the swap is still do able?
92-93 b18a1 is obd1 and 90-91 is obdo i believe.
However, the b18a1 came with a cable clutch and your car has hydraulic, that may be a problem.
Can you simply bolt up a hydro tranny to a b18a1? Anyone?
*btw, i forgot to mention, you should look for a gsr, or b16 tranny. These have a lot shorter gears and you'll be quite a bit faster than with an ls tranny.
