There's no real evidence that he was growing weed. There's evidence of plant growing equipment, and they found that he was growing tomatoes. He also had a banana tree - who in this area would grow a banana tree - someone who was into growing fruits that are hard to grow in this climate, so it makes sense that he has stuff like a hydroponic setup for tomatoes.

Well, there is the testimony of a low credibility informant.

Let me ask you this - the informant, the guy who broke into Frederick's house, says he stole half the plants. Where are the half he left for the police to find?

If this kid came up with this good a cover - knowing that the cops were coming and getting rid of all his stuff, thinking in advance to have tomatoes, bananas, and japanese maples growing, and then becoming hysterical in police questioning appearing clearly distraught over the death of a police officer - then he is the smartest pot dealer ever. Every one I have seen is either an idiot or an idiot when it comes to the law.

I agree 100%

You want to hear some fucked up shit... So my sister got woken up by swat a couple weeks ago because they had a warrant for a drug raid on the house (it wasn't no knock). Apparently they had fucked up the address on the warrant somehow. I think they had a call for a domestic dispute on her street and a tip for a drug house on another and transposed the house numbers from one street to the other. So my sister was confused and scared shitless when they answer the door. They didn't even apologize.

Imagine if that was a no knock on someones house like mine who might just shoot before I realize it is swat. I would be dead

No-knocks bad? Quelle suprise! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...073003299.html (he was totally cleared btw, turned out it was an easy to discover scheme involving a package delivery driver and a pick up man...but then that would have taken some investigation, just like they would have needed to do to find out that the they were about the execute a no-knock on a mayor...or like they would have needed to do to find out that no-knocks are unconstitutional in Maryland without specific facts which weren't present).

A few interesting points I found on the interwebz

• Last week, the defense called seven of Frederick's neighbors, one of whom was outside the night of the raid. All said they heard no police announcement, though neighbors did testify about hearing the battering ram.

• Indeed, the police officers who testified yesterday conceded that the only evidence they had on Frederick was the word of their informant, Steven Wright. Wright at the time was being held on felony charges related to credit card theft. According to the officers who testified, Wright had helped them on one prior case, and was paid $50.

I should first add that this testimony conflicts with what Renaldo Turnbull (the other man who broke into Frederick’s house with Wright) told me in June, and with what he told the Virginian-Pilot last February. Turnbull said both he and Wright had been working with the police for months, and that the police had encouraged them to illegally break into private homes to obtain probably cause for search warrants.

• As I discussed yesterday, the other gaping hole in the prosecution’s case is that they’re maintaining that even though Steven Wright told them Frederick’s home was broken into three nights before the raid, and even though they knew that Wright was in Frederick’s home the same night it was burglarized, they didn’t know until months later that it was actually Wright who conducted the burglary, and that he conducted it specifically (and illegally) to obtain probable cause for the search warrant.
