i agree and i never said they were meant to be torn up... read.... "it definitely is kind of a waste to tear them up, but tires are meant to be used, hehe. "

2nd of all...take a car made to drift. take another car made to grip. and take them to a road course and see which one is faster around the track...EVEN if the drift setup car resorts to grip racing and best line racing....that car will loose.
like doriae86 already mentioned, a drift car is setup to drift, not grip, and same with the grip car. i'd think if you took the exact same suspension parts on a drift car and set them up for grip driving, you wouldn't do half as bad.

and when did i ever talk about hp?
"You take 240's that handle great, can make great power and dont use any of it because your doing a great big/long burnout."

019, you say its about beating up old tires...but the really good guys use the stickiest tires they can find
i didn't say it was all about beating up old tires. i personally use old tires because i won't have to worry about destroying them. i am aware that the professionals use the best tires they can find. it's just that it's easier for me to initiate my slide because i will be able to break the rear end loose easier. it's just a way for me to learn. it's all good. and just as a side note, i also appreciate all sports of motorsports. i love f1 racing. love drag racing. love drifting. love rally racing, etc. they're all fun as hell to watch.

doriae86, it's great to have someone who has actually been doing this for a while posting here, hehe.

and also, there have been a few comments about there being no skill involved in drifting. i know MerF said that. can't remember if anyone else did.

in my opinion, all sorts of motorsports involve skill. otherwise there wouldn't be professional leagues... and i honestly respect every sorts of motorsports. i do have a preference for drifting , but i love everything. cars are a beautiful thing
