That's because it is way better. A judge can knock it down to improper if culpability is slight or the CA can plea you down to it if she wants to. Improper is a traffic infraction (i.e. not C1 misdemeanor like reckless), 3 points, and $500. Not even close to reckless.

I'm guessing the guy who got 10 days was doing over 90 in a place like Chesapeake.

I also said, because that's when my GPS starts warning me telling me to slow down, and it didn't, and the fact that I slightly sped up, and didn't floor it. If you also read, you may of saw me say I may be guilty of speeding. If I say I was guilty of speeding, doesn't always mean I was actually trying to race the guy and I was pulling off. I sped up slightly because their was a car behind that car and i wanted to get in the right lane while i could. If I would of floored it, than it would be another thing. I just slightly tapped the pedal, and everyone else here knows my slow ass car can't go that fast.

I'm not trying to rant and rave how I shouldn't of got a ticket. I'm asking for the best advice I can to deal with the ticket.

I sped up a little, got to where I could pass the car to the right of me, let off the gas, than passed the car. If I was past 75mph it probably was only for a second or two.

Also what did he have to do to get 10 days in jail? I know a few people that have gotten reckless and all of them got dropped after a probationary period, drivers improvement, and no lawyers.
Asking for driver's improvement is asking for a slap on the wrist, it could insult the judge. The Airman who got jail time was just cruising in the 60s on the parkway. Were the people you know minors at the time?

that's what I want to do honestly... just plea to an improper driving. I just don't want to have the reckless driving on my record, since insurance will go up. I asked the State Trooper how much reckless driving tickets run, and he says usually around $240 or $250... I don't know about that though. I mean, he wasn't really that much of an asshole or he was out to get me, he was just doing his job.

The $500 I quoted is max. The trooper was probably just giving you an idea of what typically happens in that courtroom.

Remember, reckless is a class 1 misdemeanor, so when you apply to schools and jobs it usually is something they ask you to disclose.

I didn't say I was going to ask for driver's improvement. I said I was going to take drivers improvement before I go to court. I thought that would make it seem like I'm taking responsibility for my actions. Also is their like any place I can do community service before court?

oh, that's probably why, that's federal property and they'll have to go to the Federal Court in Newport News, and they don't play around there from what I heard. The people I know were 18 or 19 like I am.

yea I know, I should also state the fact I'm about to apply to VCU and I don't want it to hurt my chances of getting in.

Also would it hurt that I am on/was probation for a disorderly conduct? The trooper said it's all up to the terms of my PO, but I'm on really loose terms and he wants me off as soon as I can and to be honest, I've only seen him twice.. All I have to do is finish my community service, and winter break is coming up so I have a chance to do that. I don't know if that charge drops as soon as I'm done with probation or what, because I'm supposed to be on it for 2 years but it's only been a couple months.

He was letting people off for random stuff like DIP, possession, etc. Besides a woman who literally crashed into the front gate at Camp Peary with a BAC above .15, he was the only person who got jail time. He was approximately 21+/-, in the airforce (in uniform) and had a lawyer and his dad present.

I guess that tells me not to speed on the parkway or any federal property. It's not like I speed often anyways. If the speed limit is around 25-45 I do tops 5 over. If it's a 2 lane road like 55MPH or an Interstate I'll do around 5-10 over. I mean so far it worked untill than. I hadn't been pulled or anything. That's why I was shocked I got pulled. That and because i usually keep good tabs on if im doing anything that can get me a reckless ticket. Like I never do anything above 79 on the interstates.

You're on probation? You do NOT want a c1 misdemeanor. Get a lawyer from the get-go. $400 isn't that much money.
