Another Reckless Thread (Not a Rant, Looking for Advice)
That's because it is way better. A judge can knock it down to improper if culpability is slight or the CA can plea you down to it if she wants to. Improper is a traffic infraction (i.e. not C1 misdemeanor like reckless), 3 points, and $500. Not even close to reckless.
I'm guessing the guy who got 10 days was doing over 90 in a place like Chesapeake.

I'm not trying to rant and rave how I shouldn't of got a ticket. I'm asking for the best advice I can to deal with the ticket.
I'm already going to take a drivers improvement class, I'm going to explain how I learned my lesson. But I also don't want to make it seem like I knew I was driving really fast, because really, I didn't know. I sped up a little, got to where I could pass the car to the right of me, let off the gas, than passed the car. If I was past 75mph it probably was only for a second or two.
Also what did he have to do to get 10 days in jail? I know a few people that have gotten reckless and all of them got dropped after a probationary period, drivers improvement, and no lawyers.

that's what I want to do honestly... just plea to an improper driving. I just don't want to have the reckless driving on my record, since insurance will go up. I asked the State Trooper how much reckless driving tickets run, and he says usually around $240 or $250... I don't know about that though. I mean, he wasn't really that much of an asshole or he was out to get me, he was just doing his job.
Remember, reckless is a class 1 misdemeanor, so when you apply to schools and jobs it usually is something they ask you to disclose.

oh, that's probably why, that's federal property and they'll have to go to the Federal Court in Newport News, and they don't play around there from what I heard. The people I know were 18 or 19 like I am.

Also would it hurt that I am on/was probation for a disorderly conduct? The trooper said it's all up to the terms of my PO, but I'm on really loose terms and he wants me off as soon as I can and to be honest, I've only seen him twice.. All I have to do is finish my community service, and winter break is coming up so I have a chance to do that. I don't know if that charge drops as soon as I'm done with probation or what, because I'm supposed to be on it for 2 years but it's only been a couple months.

I didn't say I was going to ask for driver's improvement. I said I was going to take drivers improvement before I go to court. I thought that would make it seem like I'm taking responsibility for my actions. Also is their like any place I can do community service before court?

He was letting people off for random stuff like DIP, possession, etc. Besides a woman who literally crashed into the front gate at Camp Peary with a BAC above .15, he was the only person who got jail time. He was approximately 21+/-, in the airforce (in uniform) and had a lawyer and his dad present.
