AHHH...so no other vtec motors have this "limp mode"?

 

yes, other motors have limp mode, however, you didnt just get the whole point of my last few posts. without adapting a different ecu to control the motor, the ecu doesnt even know what vtec is, therefor if it is not activating, then ecu doesnt see any difference, therefore, it wouldnt send it into limp mode.
