Combine this with the fact that everything original has already been done to a Civic, and there you go.

Granted I do know and understand that 90% of all Neons on the road are riced out by punk teen kids whose parents bought them a cheap car to drive to and from high school. It pains me to see these things.

So, these are my opinions, and my .02 cents. If you don't like it, so be it.
neons generally have poor build quality. eod.

Up until 1999 I would have agreed with you. However, just like with EVERY OTHER make of car on the road, each generation after the first includes improvements over the original design. You drive a 'Teg, right? I do believe that they are not still building 1st Gen 'Tegs anymore, due to upgrades, improvements, etc. Every model car has it's lemons. EVERY MODEL.

EOD.

i don't count srt's as neons. as far as regular neons past 99, they still have shitty build quality.

there are 5 2000+ neons in my court/near my house. 3 of the people i personally know and stay on top of maintenance and they are still constantly getting repairs for stupid little things all the time.

my next door neighbor's has the worst rod knock i've ever heard and he's meticulous in taking care of the car.

once again, eod.

EDIT: i don't know of any gen integra that is widely recognized as a lemon like 1st gen neons are.

I am not saying that 'Tegs are widely recognized as a lemon. I am only trying to say that ALL models of cars have lemons. Before I got my Neon, I had never even heard of them having problems all of the time. Yes. I will agree that Neons have a bad rep. This is mostly due to the fact that DCM originally intended the Neon to be a "throw-away" car. Therefore the build quality wasn't that great at first. But, just like all new models, there are going to be quirks and minor issues that will get worked out over time. Chrysler is doing a great job building the best bang for the buck car on the market. Not only that, but they have also got in place the aftermarket support in place to make their new models better down the road.

like i said, i have 0 issues with the srt4 and from what i've seen and heard it's a great car.
it's just the regular neons i don't have much respect for, but to each their own, i won't flame someone because they like a certain car.

I did not take your posts as flaming. I too do not dog on anyone about the kind of car they drive. But, you are right, to each their own.

I agree, to each their own. If we could all do it over again i'm sure theres a diff car we'd want, given money isnt an option. But we gotta make the best of what we got right?? And there will always be someone who has somethign faster!!

i figured it wasn't the stock 420 motor, not that one couldn't hit 14's, it's just a rarity around here....i've always wanted to get ahold of a 1st gen neon dohc coupe and build it and turbo it just because no one would expect that out of a neon...good shit though...
