Hey genius, that's why I said a true DSM (ie: 1g or 2g). Above poster was apparently referring to 3Gs and 4Gs as DSM.

kthx

without a complete timeslip, no one is going to be able to magically figure out why the cars can't get into the 13s with a 100mph+ trap. my best guess would be a combination of what others have already stated- crappy suspension/tires, tall gearing, and weight adds up to negating alot of the power until it gets moving, which is where it obviously shines.

magazines don't 'lie'. they have to put out a reliable source of information or no one would read them. usually when a magazine puts out a time that's faster than what most people can pull, it means that they're harder to drive. every car i can think of, the times that were quoted by the magazines turned out to be achievable, if not by everyone then at least by some. we've all seen the s2000s and wrx's out at NOPI running 15s- it doesn't mean that the magazines made up the fact that they're capable of low 14s. i remember when the evo came out i didn't believe it ran low 13s, but i've seen them run that.

and to all other, off-topic posts about how bad the new eclipse sucks- unless it has an evolution, sti, or gt-r badge on it, people on this board are going to say it sucks when it first comes out.

It looks like competition for a 350Z, if so Mitsu loses again

True...However, according to the numbers, not by much. On the straights, the eclipse can hang, but the 350z will dust it in the turns.

I don't think mitsu put this out as competition to the 350z or rx8...more like the rsx or srt-4.

It's the first year of this model, so I'll be tolerant of its flaws. Like the srt-4 and the GTO, improvements were made in the second year car. We'll see if mitsu will live and learn for the 07 model.
