Cycle whore thread
The only flaw I have in regards to riding is that I grew up around people who were real old school (older parents), so I have that old guy mentality towards new things. I will say this though in regards to rossi, melandri, stoner, and etc. When they race they don't seem to intentionally back it into corners like Hayden does at times, I mean they do lose traction, but they seem to understand how important it is to maintain a solid line and keep that traction, you know what I mean?
I've been to a track day once out in texas on a gs500 with a novice group, so I'm not an expert, but I did learn that any time traction is lost the control and stability of the bike suffers. Saying they were douchebags was harsh, but I don't understand the backing it in outside of flattrack, supermoto, and stuff.
They could all beat me on bicycles, so I shouldn't be critiquing them, but I also know the other riders mentioned also seem to be better than hayden :-p.

Dude, meet the guy 1st and stop going off what people say.
2. Watch his interviews, and watch the others, you'll see he's far from it.
As far as him backing it in, it is not intentional, its his riding style which combined with the speed of a GP bike results in him backing it in, Nicky rarely backs it in on the 800 gp bikes, stoner still does, as a matter a fact, he does 2 wheel drifts at times, one of the few backing it in on the 800s. None of those guys are backing it in for sh1ts and giggles, they don't have time for that. They're backing it in because they're trying to stop and rotate the bike as quickly as possible. as for all that old school, and wsbk talk, that's hilarious because you should know that that's where Nicky honed his riding style comes from and is still done there. Back in the day you had to muscle the bikes around, production based or gp, because its how you got them around the track. Gary McCoy is the kick of backing it in, and spinning it up on exit, and thanks to him, he pushes tire developement. Now with all the electronics on the race bikes they barely step out of line. Now people are saying the GP races are boring. There's no spinning, no sliding, no backing it in, no show, no wow factor. Its just amazing lean angles and cornering speed, and look, 2012 motoGP is going back to liter bikes. So yeah, he's fooling around. He's a douchebag. Lol. Rossi must be the biggest one of them all, since not only does he back it in, he's dangling a leg off the bike. So he's really unsafe. Lol.

Seriously follow moto GP before you jump to conclusion and critisize a former world champ. There are a lot of phenomenal riders out there that can't say they were world champions. However he won, like it or not, he is still the 2006 World Champion. So I think its safe to say, the guy knows his way around the track quickly, because he didn't become a Champ by finishing last all season long.
nice. been meaning to stop by there since they opened. one of the artists there wants me to build him a bike, was thinking of a trade.
I just got some ink too, though it's nothing special (no, it's not upside down, i can read it, and that's the point)

I don't know Nicky personally, so I can't comment on his being a douchebag off the track. I can see where some people may not like him because he's a pretty boy, but I think he'd be a riot to hang out with for a few days. And as far as being a douchebag because he's "unsafe" on the track, I fail to see where that argument comes from. Like was said previously, he comes from a dirt track background and backing it in is just how he corners. It's fast for him.
Drive safe.
Drive safe.
