Cycle whore thread
Bargain helmets for bargain brains? Hahah, no, not really, just people that don't know better.
If you've driven corollas your entire life, you will say, why the fuk pay all that money for a benz, then maybe one day, somehow you end up riding in a benz or driving one, then suddenly you feel like fuk. Why was I driving those low end cars for so long. I can afford the benz, wtf am I doing in a corolla, so you go try an infiniti or lexus instead and you say, yeah, I'm good. But you know that there's a lil better out there and a lot more that's worse.
Beasically its ignorance. HJC, bell, icon and the like have nothing, to compare to the top dollar shoei, shark, suomy, arai, agv lids. Nothing. They're heavier, and flimsy, and fall apart after 1 season, they fog up, and are generally ugly.
Who the hell makes the icon lids anyway? Prolly bell. I'm sorry, but the only low end helmet I'd rock at this point is scorpion, not even kbc is worth my time and money. If they can't even get visors to last an entire season without becoming lose or broken you think I'm gonna trust them to protect my noggin? No way.
I've tried scorpions and was VERY impressed. Best bang per buck as far as I'm concerned
Shoeis are great but don't fit my head, they give me headaches, and they fog up.
Arais are nice, but generally don't appeal to me, and only 1 models fits my grape well.
Suomys, I have 2 and I'm looing for a 3rd. Yes they're loud, but who cares, I wear earplugs.
Agv, awesome, but heavy as fuk, hurts my lil neck.
Shark, I'd rock one in a heartbeat, but luckily I found another suomy I want, so they're still 2nd choice.
Vemar, awesome, extremely light, lighter than suomy, but the sexy ones I can't find here.
Fulmer, very good, but lacking In fit and finish, and didn't fit me really well.
Hjc, tied on once and it literally felt like the ones at AIK, cheap and beat up. Yes it was brand new. never. Oh, did I mention I had to dodge a hjc visor on the hwy when my boy looked back and it went zoom? Yeah.
Bell, never, wtf for, they died for a reason.
Kbc, visor issues, says a lot to me about their quality, not attractive, and generally cheap feeling.
What else is there? The european brands like nolan, etc are too hard to get. And ogk's cost too much to try to get one and find out they don't fit my dome.
Protect your domes. It only takes one shitty wreck to get brain damage, I'd rather reduce the risk with a well made, trusted, and comfortable lid.
I can get 3 solid seasons out of my suomys. That pays for iteself, and is cheaper than buying a new cheap lid every year.
Washing, my suomys have fullly removable cheek pads, and liners so I can take all that out and wash it and be zesty clean again. Plus I can buy any part for it, plus sick looks. People constantly ask if they're custom painted. Try that with a hjc, or icon. Lol.

Oh, and when I say 3 solid seasons out of my suomy, its not done after than, generally I just get fresh cheekpads, $45 and I'm set. That's what I did with my suomy dragon. But generally after 3 years on street I retire them for a newer one and sell em. After 5 years I'm done wearing it on the bike regardless of quality. Unless its brand new then I might rock it on the streets, can't track it after 5 yrs.
Nick, my money was slow playboy, and I just picked up a set of bbs rims, so I'm broke again. No tire ordered my man. Sorry.
I figure you're not riding anyway in this weather, and we aint changing it in this weather/cold so it doesn't matter.
I'm gonna get some once I get my tax return. So just holla, if you change your mind, no worries.
This month I'm gonna be busy sorting out shit on my bike.
Also, if anyone has a 04-07 1000rr and is interested in suspension, ohlins, penske, galfer rotors, AP racing rotors, stm slipper clutch, brembo master cylinders, you name it. I can hook up some gently used parts. I've got too many boys wanting to sell and not enough money to buy it all.
Just holla, I know people.

I wore an airframe for one day comparing it to the Domain2 back when I had just bought it, that piece of crap would flip the visor up at anything over 90mph, it was loud, and uncomfortable(to me). The Domain2 was way more comfortable, almost silent, but heavy as a brick.
Shoei helmets are dirt cheap right now (RF-1000/X-11), there's no reason not to pick one up.

Some of us actually ride and don't have time to kickstand compare a million helmets.
I can do all of that with my HJC. I can see your mentality is the brag about how much you spent mentality. You like to shit on everyone else because they don't own what you think is good, thumbs up dude.

I put over 10k miles on my bike last year alone and I usually only rode on the weekends.
And 3 sets of tires.
It's one thing to just brag about something that may not be particularly better but in the sense of the helmets we are talking about there is in fact a distinguishable difference.

Me brag about shit i got, not happening, i dont have shIt to brag about. but i spend what little i have well on quality shit. Everyone has their priorities, yours are probably other things, me, mine are my bike and car, cause i dont have family and shit.
You want to take it as me sh1tting on people, go right ahead, but that was not my intention at all. Far from it.
Ive tried more than my fair share of lids, and was merely giving my opinion. Sorry if that hurt your feelings.
Maybe you should stop being so bitter and defensive and consider what we're saying.
Just a note, ive never seen a KBC, or Icon lid on a pro AMA, WSBK rider, HJC yes, but only AMA and spies brought tit to WSBK, otherwise, no one rocks them lids in the big leagues. Spies doesnt crash much so he can wear whatever anyway.
Just something to thing about.
