Leave early so I get to the bus on time, get caught in insane tunnel traffic, arrive when the bus is about to leave, run to the bus, and forget my batteries for my cd player in the car. The asian dude finds me a seat next to some lady. I sit there for like 2 hours or so and finally fall asleep, wake up somewhere in delaware, stay awake for the rest of the trip wishing it would end already cause that shit sucked so much. I also didn't bring water and that didn't help. I threw out my ticket and took amtrak back, fuck that shit. Ive taken the train, bus, plane, and car. Best way IMO is the car, no delays and personal space can't be beat. Other than the bus, it still manages to cost about the same or less than every other way to get to NYC even with my V8.
I fly AirTran up there twice a week. If you book close to 14 days out, you can get netsaver fares around $59-$79 each way. Best way IMHO. I drive up there every once in a while, and it's a major pain dealing with traffic and accidents along the way. A few months back I was stuck on I-95 when a Tanker Truck was T-boned and no one could even leave the Interstate for over 2 hours. Not to mention Smokey hanging out at every fricking turnoff when you aren't paying attention.
Anyways, if you want to do it again, I'd recommend checking www.airtran.com atleast 2 weeks out. PM me if you decide to go back, I can get you some free passes to clubs and/or guest list access, since you need to be on the guest list to get in most of the clubs in Manhattan. And if you check www.hotels.com you can find some cheap deals for staying in or around the city.
