I have to agree with Brett S. I don't know if there was someone else in the kitchen the nights we went or what. The calamari was huge pieces in heavy batter, the pad thai tasted burned and my husband's beef and broccoli was bland. I think Rom Thai in Norfolk definitely has them beat by a longshot.
Reviewer: Sarah S. from Virginia beach

I know the guy who made that first comment and he said his friend owns it.
Which comment? The good or the bad one?

That's a review for Tida Thai in Chesapeake on S. Military.
I think it's the same ownership. Although the food was good there I found the food at the VA Beach location much much better. The atmosphere was also much nicer.

Did you click to see the rest of the reviews from the pilotonline ones you posted?
I tried to paste a link, but it won't let me link the page, I'd post it here, but there's 35 of them. In either case, 4.69 out of 5 stars (2 bad out of 35) is pretty good. If you choose to go I hope you two like it.

We went to Rom Thai for the first time yesterday for a work lunch.
Food was okay and service was mediocre. Tida Thai was better IMO.

It's just spicy food. I certainly wasn't sick. It just wasn't a good "expulsion" process. I loved it and I'd do it again.

Didn't help that I went to a bar and had some beers afterwards.

can indian curry really get as hot as what you can get from Thai places? I really enjoy some lunch buffet from rajput and nawab (rajput=close to work, nawab=home) but i crave spicy food. Obviously they won't change a buffet item but if we decided to order regular food sometime - it'd be cool to experience yellow curry the same as we do for red.

Anyone tried that Brazilian place? We didn't make it out but i'm really interested.

Damn bro, not trying to threat jack, though not trying to create another thread either. Search has been used, aside from this thread 2006 is the newest thread asking a question remotely the same as mine and since some places mentioned in the thread could be closed down or whatever by now. I ask.

Best place to go for buffet? I really do not care what type, so long as a 4 y/o would eat there as well (ie. pretty much eliminates spicy foods, like, SPICY foods). Preferably in the Va Beach <-> Norfolk area.

Who knows of good buffet? Golden Corral isn't my idea of good, sorry.

Lol, i dig the GC - for all the mac & cheese and rare steak you can eat. Bourbon chicken, collard greens, fake crab salad (i love that shit), burgers, mash potatoes.... those kick-ass rolls! damn i just made myself super hungry.

Even working at some really creative places - i can still get down with a plate full of mac & cheese followed by a plate full of mash potatoes.

Captain George's. I go straight into fatass mode at that place - stretchy pants and all. I don't give a fuck.

Tried there two weekends ago. Their food was very salty, maybe an off night I dont know, but, salty it was. I could lick my balls and it'd be less salty.
