My understanding was that Kmart closed it because the lease was going to like $50 grand a wk or something like that. Thats ALOT-O-KARTING to hit that nut.

All I heard was that the landlords weren't allowing Kmart to renew thier lease. I'm not sure about the payments but i'm sure it's not cheap.

not gonna have superkarts, per say. The superkarts we have now will be used by all adults at the new facility meaning there's nothing to qualify into.

sounds like each track ought to have its own dedicated mechanic, or atleast there ought to be several full time mechanics working there. Buying quality equipment would go an incredibly long way too.

I wondered for a long time why they built that outdoor track instead of an indoor one. makes sense.

isn't birdneck a kinda shady area? Customer service is always supposed to be the #1 priority at AIK. We're supposed to provide customers with a good entertainment experience to keep them coming back, instead of simply putting them into a kart and pointing them to the track. Think that's one thing that sets us apart, though for a little over minimum wage, the employees aren't always going to see things that way, where ever they work. then falls on the management's shoulders to keep things running right to keep customers happy

$50k/mo sounds about right. Given that its probably roughly the same size as our current building, but in VB. Another popularly mentioned site is the old Ames on the Blvd across from checkered flag BMW. From what i hear, $100k/mo lease. granted it is 100,000+ sq ft vs our current 80,000sq ft, but still. that would be a lot of karting just to cover costs...

to kash- birdneck isnt really all that bad imo, its just the employee turnover is so bad, because theres no reward for hard work ( the only time i got complimented for doing something, i got yelled at right afterwards) and there is no real way to move up. that and alot of the kids dont give two shits. Ive always had a great time ive gone to aik

AIK will be coming to Virginia Beach.

Yes it will be smaller than Portsmouth. But what no one has told everyone yet is the facility has level changes going into the two hairpins. No track has that. Not only will you have to figure the track out, but you will have to go up and down the hill to get into and out of the hairpin corners. It will be a challenging layout for sure.

All 9hp karts is correct. Serious gears in the karts make them pull very hard.

Starting the second week of July, you can see the layout on the new website and you can come into Portsmouth AIK and buy tickets to the new track for $10 per race if you are a member. If you are not a member, simply sign up as one. Buy as many tickets now for $10 as you want, because once the new facilty opens up, that deal will go away.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks
