My dad's neighbor has a son who is a GM VP (or something along those lines). He had a C6 Z06. One day, while parked, it dumped its fluids (trans and coolant, though it might have been trans, coolant, and oil, I forget). When test driving one my brother went to pop the hood. The hood release came off in his hands and the hood stayed shut. The General is a cheap s.o.b.

My uncle has had numerous z06's, both new and used and never had a single problem. He doesn't baby them either. Now has a zr-1 and drives it almost every day w/ no issues. All makes and models have some bad apples, but for the most part, the corvette is a very reliable, low maintenance, trouble-free car. Bang for the buck it can't be beat.
