any7 one do any kart racing?
I don't remember the recipe (but I'll get it if anyone wants it) but it was equal parts toluene, lacquer thinner, and something else that I can't remember. The toluene and lacquer thinner did the softening, and the third ingredient was something that just thickened it up so it didn't evaporate so quickly.
The only problem with using Lacquer thinner is that it dries out the rubber in the tire which depfeats the purpose of softening it because you lose bite but you make the rubber softer. haha i worked with a chemest on our tires and chemicals to find all this out but would like to know what kinda of Chemicals you could get?

We tried most everything on the market back when we were using this stuff, and it worked the best. We also have one of those machines that you put the tires in and fill the bottom with whatever traction compound you use and it has a motor that slowly rotates the tire through the stuff all day long (or as long as you want it to). The only problem with that is that it's so effective, the first batch we used got way too soft. The durometer on them when we stared was like 65, and when we got done it was below 20.
So how would you guys compare the karts you race to the gems over at AIK? Or if you haven't been, compared to your average rental place.

The karts at rental places are like taking a 1980 Ford Crown Victoria and comparing it to a Corvette or some other sports car. Both are technically cars and both will get around a track. But one will do it much, much better...

Gotcha.
I've been looking at 4cycle.com a ton and I see most guys use trailers but there are some guys that just use a pickup for hauling the kart. If I could do that, that'd save alot of money. Is is that uncommon to see guys with just pickups, no trailers?
I wish there were some shops local to VB that I could stop in at.
