Looking at buying my 1st bike

by an ex500 or a 250 and learn properly on that for a few years.
Now that I have my gsxr 600 and having ridden for a 500 for many many many years any new 600 is way to much power for a beginner rider. You will never learn properly on a bike like that so pretty much ignore anyone who tells you to just respect that machine. The R6s or fzr you are looking at is a good bike, for an intermediate rider. Like tat said you have to learn before you can even think about commuting, and commuting isn't as fun as it sounds if everytime you are sitting in traffic working a stiff clutch with your hand.

Re: Looking at buying my 1st bike
I have never dropped any bike. Nor do I plan on it. I don't see why everyone says you WILL go down. Maybe its just something I will never understand. I don't believe I will go down due to my judgements because I ride responsibly, I ride within reason, I rarely break the speed limit (Hard to believe, I'm sure), and more importantly, I understand the risk of riding a motorcycle and I adjust my riding style to that. I don't want to get it in my head that each corner I take could be the one that will get me. I don't want to be afraid of the bike, nor do I want other riders to fear theirs. I could be completely off my horse about all this, but its unnerving when a new rider posts up and 50% of the remarks he/she receives is about dropping their bike. Being naive and being smart enough to know your limits are two completely different things.
Also a 250 is not bland at all, neither is a 500. If you think it is bland then you are definitely speeding.
OP: YOU WILL NOT GET BORED OF A BIKE IF YOU USE IT IN A LEGAL MANNER. STRONGER MOTORS ONLY GET YOU FROM 0-60 FASTER BUT KILL YOUR MILEAGE THINK ABOUT IT
