My name's Eric. I've been registered with drag for a little while now. Although my amount of posts don't run up in the thousands, I'm often reading the threads. And if I'm ignorant, it must be because I quoted the mustang and corvette as shitty, right? Haha, maybe if the guy didn't post the off topic comment to begin with, I wouldn't have said what I said.

 

I don't care about post count. His post is on topic IMO. The guy is getting a new car and cobra4b suggested one. Since for $35k you can have a big cube C5 that makes well over 500whp or a stock STi, I'd say its relavent. I'm not harping on ya' for the comment man.

 

Honestly it is your car, so decide yourself. Everyone probably prefers one over the other, like if it was me, STI.

 

Well Cobra was referring to people who prefer japanese cars over american cars as "ignorant", and then you said that I'm in that ignorant category that he was referring to because of my reply, so I couldn't help but assume that you were harping on me for my comment..haha. No big deal.

 

I think he was saying their views of the c5/zo6 are ignorant. They are great cars, especially for the price. You can pick up a use 99-00 FRC Vette for less than $20k with very few miles. You can then spend $15k in the engine (stroker kit, heads, cam, long tube headers, clutch and everything else that goes with it) and have well over 500rwhp. A car with the above and about $5k in suspension/wheels/tires will keep up with nearly any current super car including a new Enzo. Its amazing what can be had with research/knowledge. I'm not knocking anyone for their choice, just trying to educate. Of course, the above build list is not for the shade tree mechanic, but it can be done by professionals for not much more. I know what my next car will be as soon as my GTI sells.

 

Man, I wish I even had something CLOSE to that amount of money to put into a car, let alone upgrades. Last year, I put about $6000 into my 93 integra and had Shad at Abacus install a turbocharged b16 setup. 3 weeks later, some guy wrecked it and now I'm just so far in debt (credit cards, loans, etc), I don't know how I'm ever gonna get a decent car again....haha. But yeah, I had no idea you could pick up a Vette for that cheap. Especially when you line it up next to an enzo. Impressive stuff.
