Nice to see it's not ALL assholes in this forum!!
did you mean to say it's the block that makes the difference? i don't see where a head could change displacement any...
also, what is this d4re you speak of? never heard of that in any dsm..
yeah, most everyone isn't an asshole, they just are online, and mainly to new guys...

D DOHC
4 4 Cylinder
R Rear
E Exaust
At least thats how it was explained to me, if i can find the archived post @ Neons.org i'll send it to ya, it's actually pretty interesting. I had a buddy with a 96 Eclipse and i though forever that with the exception of the head turned 180 they were the same engines, but i wasw proved wrong. LOL Otherise i'd side with ya.
And actually the PT head, although the exact same casting # as the DOHC neon head, flows better, i had mine extrude honed anyways so it didn't matter, just wanted piece of mind of having a newer head, plus it was still on the engine when i bough tit.

I guess the SRTs are cool, but most people look for a car that represents more than simply straight line performance for the buck (comfort, style, etc.. would be nice.) I dunno they share a lot of problems with the other newer performance cars that are all in the same arena..
I mean they are quick but open the door and peer around for a second. Ew.

Overall I'm happy w/ my neon... I've put over 20k miles on it since i bought it a little over a year ago.. only problem I've had is when I hydrolocked it, I think it may have either bent a rod or cracked a piston slightly, but continued to run for another 2-3 months untill I was gettin on it a bit ~6000RPMs and it puked a rod. (~71k miles on stock motor) Oil was always extremely clean at oil changes.
I had the clutch replaced the day before that happened, and I'm guessing the reason it went so quick, is the lady that had it before me actually had a trailer hitch on it, and towed a trailer for her arena car. (I dont get it either) lol
