theres nothin wrong with doin a few bolt-ons to make a slow car a little less slow. hell thats what youre doin.
I don't have a Jetta. It's a GTI. It's not a high powered car; You're right. It is, however, a lower to mid 13 second car which at this point in time is PLENTY in Roanoke.

I'm curious, what single mod did you do that dropped your time 2 seconds from stock and added 40+whp?

um a stock gti is not a low 13 second car. youre very confused. an 03 cobra is a stock low 13 second car, an 02 SS is a low 13 second stock car, a Mach1 is a low 13 second car, your GTI is not. please go to the track and get yourself some time slips before you open your mouth about ETs.

did a little bit of research cause im bored and curious. it seems that you are very wrong. i think you meant to say a low 15 second car.

2004 Volkswagen GTI 1.8t (manual) (0-60) 6.5 (1/4) 15.2
2004 Volkswagon Golf R32(0-60) 6.4 (1/4) 14.5

what was this bike that had to work to pull on you? a huffy roadmaster? 10 speed huh?

Wrong! Anyone that runs 15's in a stock GTI is either on an awful track, or have no driving skills. It's not uncommon at all to break 14's in stock form.

I lied about the 1 mod though..

I do have REVO 4-bar software, DR's, CAI, VR6 clutch, G60 flywheel, 3.94 R&P, and a Peloquin LSD.

I didn't say the bike had to work hard to pull on me. I said he seemed surprised that he couldn't roll a GTI from like 4th gear at 25-35mph. Wasn't hard for him to walk me.. He just had to play catch up and downshift.

By the way.. You know just as well as I do that the quoted performance figures in magazines are often times incorrect. There have been stock R32's running 13.9x's as well. My drivetrain upgrades were a big help with launches.

Have you run at the track yet? I could claim my neon is a 13 second car all day long, but until i run it i'm just talking out of my ass.

well the fact is that a somewhat capable driver drove those times. all youre goin by is not-so-fancy guesswork. and your mods arent enough to net you a low 13 second ET. id be glad to give you a second head start and see how many cars i walk you down by. im gonna guess at least 6.

there have been some stock R32s running high 13s. but the fact is the majority are stuck in the low-mid 14s, much like that 'magazine figure' i posted. you dont have a "low 13" second car. that's the biggest steaming pile of horse shit ive ever seen. at least the dude with the neon has some sort of idea as to what his car is capable of. you just have a false sense of reality and bullshit hopes. cool, dude

actually, they are commonly called exceptions to the rule, or even coined by others as 'factory freaks'. most magazines will get a car from the factory, given to them for testing purposes, and they will make several passes in that car, often by different people, and tally the average. typically this is pretty consistent in giving a good idea of what the car is capable of. yes, i've 'heard of' certain types of cars running x number of tenths quicker than what the magazines say, but as i said before, these are exceptions. that being said, i've driven a stock gti and i don't believe they are capable of running faster than a mid 15.
