i go over to VA beach quite often in the summer and seeing all the beach cruisers make me want to do it more, but between school and work i never have time
I was originally going to do gloss black bolts, then I was thinking gloss red bolts. I'll probably do the center cap black - painting all of those bolts will be a huge headache (there are 136 of them).
There are some dyes out there that work well on steel (stainless included) if you want to color them by dipping them. Otherwise you can thin some paint and dip them.
Last time I painted wheel bolts, I got a scrap piece of expanded metal mesh from a local scrap metal place, and dropped all the bolts in the holes. Then we painted all the heads at the same time with a touchup gun. We put them in a cure oven at work and baked them, made them nice and hard. The paint didn't get damaged during reinstallation either.
