Cycle whore thread
Had a pretty productive day. Decided to change the oil since it was overcast and cool and I wasn't in a rush to ride. By the time I got done with that and some other odds and ends the sun broke through and I rode to my folks and washed it for the first time in like...4 or 5 months. Still need to clean the wheels a little better but I cut it short to get some more riding in. Definitely looking forward to the spring, summer, and fall.
that being said, I don't use a high dollar plastic welder, I use a modified $35 welder. I just use "proper" filler rod, not that crap you get at harbor freight. It's all in the application.
if it's just a hairline crack, and you don't want to fuck up the paint, you can weld it from the backside, if you're careful, and don't put too much heat in to melt the paint, and you'd never know it was welded unless you knew it was there beforehand. I just did a left lower on a zx14 that fell over in a trailer, and to be honest, the guy was amazed that it didn't show from the outside, and didn't need to be resprayed.
oh, on that note, for ya'll that run Honda's with colored plastic, (like the white in most CBR600f2's/f3's, that is very hard to plastic weld. The plastic tends to shrink with any application of heat, making a hole where once was a crack. That particular plastic isn't painted, it's just the colr of the plastic, with a hell of a finish on it.
wow 86 an hour?... damn im getting ripped.. i do that shit all the time for friends for free.. its not hard at all.. i
rich can say how easy it is.. he picked up how todo it from just watching me.....
jake like a said if u need help welding ur fairings back up.. just hit me up..

a crack in plastic? when I met you you only owned a drtbike.. you outa know this.. but...
drill a zig-zag pattern on both sides of the crack, and a small hole at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading, and zip-tie in a zig-zag thru the holes along the crack. Yes, it gives it a frankenstien look, but it works.

That's what I planned. Was just gonna do a little seam of some kind of glue to add to the fucked up look

and lol at putting work into fixing shit. I'm just throwing more fucked up crap on with a few new upgrades and riding that bitch into the ground.
i do "You have to dig a channel in the crack" but i dont use a "filler rod".. well i do but its mostly just plaste i have laying around to fill the gap.. i havent had a problem with my welds or any welds iv done. and im hard on my upper
Well..I was gonna ride in to work today. Woke up and saw frost on the ground and decided I didn't want to mess with it. Should be warmer tomorrow morning.. Might go home at lunch and grab the yamaha.
I almost rode today as well, same shit. Frost on the ground, i was like ahhh fuck it. It is supposed to be 66 today for a high though, i am definately riding to work tomorrow and friday!
