Yeah it kinda looks like an older Datsun 240Z from the back, or maybe if you want a really big stretch for comparison I even think it looks a little like a Daytona from the back. GT4 stands for Grand Touring and it's a 2+2 seating format?
The 2002 GT4 was a prototype designed by Pietro Frua and never saw production. Here's the front:

He also designed the 3000 V8 Coupe when he worked for Glas:

The BMWs weren't the prettiest of designs. Perhaps that's why they never made it into production.
EDIT: Here's Frua's portfolio:

S. Rivas painted a bunch of Calvin & Hobbes murals in the playroom of the Reynolds Home — a shelter for women and children in crisis.
Rivas says:
Working on this mural, staring at every minute detail of wattersons work, i gained a greater appreciation for [Bill Watterson’s] beautiful creations. i tried to respect the original works as much as possible, giving my full attention to even the smallest detail and trying to get the colors just right. attempting to recreate the look of watercolors using only latex paint proved to be quite difficult. i hope i did ‘em justice.
