How could this happen to my fully built ls/vtec?

All you have to due is swap your ECU and Injectors and you are ready to go. It is that easy. Not CARB Exempt.
Also a small exhaust will only do damage to your supercharger or turbo, not damage to your motor.

Plain and simple, even with identical motor build ups and identical turbo setups, each car will need a different tune. Jackson racing does offer pretuned setups for stock motors. Even then, I wouldnt trust a tune being that every car and setup reacts differently to a particular tune. A fully built motor with a shitty tune is just as good as a stock motor. The motor blew because of the tune, not because of the exhaust.
^^^ beat me to it. ^^^
My fully built LS vtec had a FINE TUNED dyno tune on it. I then took it apart and rebuilt it with the EXACT SAME parts and when put back together it ran like shit until i took it back to have it retuned!!!
there is NO SUCH thing as a pretuned ecu because there are too many aspects to a tune. What pretuned means to some people is that it has a base map on it just to make it start and run. Although it runs it should not be driven at all at full throttle. Just because it goes at full throttle does not mean that it is getting the fuel and everything it needs.
I ran my old single cam del sol at 11psi on stock exhaust for a year. It had a good tune tho. With turbo setups it is *****ALL!!!!*** in the tune.

Not trying to jump on the band wagon but your setup was well out side of what a Jackson Racing base map would be suited for. Secondly the exhaust is an issue but I beleive that is not the main issue the tune was. Also what port was the map sensor located on and what map sensor was inuse.
Damn couldn't you tell that your car probably felt slow as hell with a smaller than stock exhaust restriction? Its a fact plain and simple that you grenaded the shit out of your engine from detonation. Boosting on a "pretuned" ecu was a terrible idea. Boosted hondas aren't like a sr20 where everyone has a similar setup and you can just throw a jim wolf ecu in there and everything will be all gravy. If you can hear detonation then you know the tune is screwed up. Any audible detonation is bad bad bad. In fact any detonation period is bad. It can still be getting it and you wont necessarily hear it. When I tune cars I use a det can for detecting knock and it works quite well. You should consider making one for your next motor.
Heres a thread i made on how to make it. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1555006

i honestly can't believe you ran your car for 2,700 miles on a basemap, blew it up and then posted saying you "knew your shit" about boosted motors. There is NO SUCH THING as a pretuned ECU as someone stated before. It doesn't matter how well you build a motor, if its not tuned well its gonna blow. And yes, changing the exhaust from 2 1/2 to 1 1/8 can change the tune, but theres no reason to argue that because you never had a tune to begin with, you had a basemap. You also stated that you have already blown up 3-4 honda motors in the past.... get a clue dood.
read the story before u talk because i never said i "knew my shit about boost"i just asked him if he knew and if it were poss. to come take a look at my car for me!!!STOP STARTING SHIT
