That's a crucial point that a lot of people forget.

ill be there saturday with my buddy and his dad, thankfully hes a knowledgeable weapon man so he can guide me to which weapon is a quality piece, is it going to be feasible for me to spend 300 bucks or less ?. they sell used guns dont they ? im trying not to spend money cause im still making offers on houses and im sure ill have to buy and/or replace stuff.... but at the same time i dont want to pass up a deal if these gun shows have a large selection of used guns. has any one ever bought a used gun from one of these shows ?. what should i expect as far as price ranges and gun quality ? any insight would be helpful.

On a handgun, $300 really isnt going to buy anything worth a crap, except maybe an old used Glock 9mm if you like glocks, and even then I'd be wary of a $300 gun, glock or not.

If you want something for home protection, you can pick up a nice shotgun for that price i'm sure.

i already have a shotgun, looking for handgun that me and the woman will be comfortable firing and handling. if the chances of me finding a decent handgun for that price is unthinkable i guess ill just stay home, anyone else with some used buying experience ?. i did just look at a few 380's and brand new there going for like 400 bucks and some cheaper, i dont need the fanciest gun in the world, if itll fire reliability and can kill some terrorists at 10 ft than thatll work. a 9mm would be prefectly fine. i did get to fire one at the range and i liked it, i also shot a 45 an was to unstable for me and didnt fit my hand well.

There's not too much out there you're going to find as far as a carry/self defense weapon for that price range.

If you're looking for a target/range piece to learn the basics on, you can pick up a used Ruger MkII or MkIII for around there. I can't think of a better gun to learn on than that.

Another thing to consider is that unless you and your girl have the same sized hands and same finger strength, chances are that you won't both be comfortable shooting the same gun.

Also, as far as 45's go, there are a WIDE variety of grip sizes and styles. I'm sure you could find one to fit your hand well, there.
