My point is, why sink money into something like that where the yields are terrible. The EJ20 motor is shit, so are the heads, they flow horribly. If I were to put money into one of those cars, i'd go with an STi motor. The ECUs are weaksauce, they have a very difficult time living with reflashes. ETC. ETC. ETC.

Not disagreeing with the tranny being weak. Dont really know too much in depth about the heads and there flow but the EJ20 is a great engine in my opinion. Not just because I own one. And the reason you didnt run your car over 300whp is because thats what WRX's trannies max out at unless you dog it too much. But thats just it, its only a WRX, not an STi. Thats like buying a regular Lancer and thinking you can throw down the same numbers as an Evo. Sooner or later youll have to rebuild a tranny in any car if you want big power. And there arent too many AWD "tuner" cars out there so maybe thats why the trannys of WRX's are notorious for breaking. Basically your comparing a WRX to an Evo when you should be comparing an STi to an Evo. But you have your opinion and ive got mine so thats that.

If you want big power you don't neccesarily have to build the tranny, just get a car that is known for having a strong tranny! I'd hate to have to build an engine or a tranny - PITA if you ask me, and expensive, downtime, etc. I like motors/trannies that can reliably hold 600whp+ in stock form. That's plenty for me.

There's no debate. I'd go with an EVO if I wanted a racecar/track car.

Agreed, but not everybody can afford a car that can do that. So poor people like me have to deal with shitty trannies haha.

Well I mean it doesn't even come down to money. Although more money = better car, generally. You can do a lot with a little money, i've seen it done. I just have NIGHTMARES of the WRX I used to have. Like legit nightmares at night of me dreaming I did something and the tranny grenaded haha. Those were the worst nights of my life!

I'd drive an STI if I just planned to do minor bolt ons without increasing the power much... but if I wanted a monster, I'd go with an Evo.
